Ashville College Disc Golf Club
Disc golf is played like ball golf, only one uses a specialised 'frisbee' or golf disc, instead of a little white ball.- A golf disc is a highly aerodynamic disc - some driver discs can be thrown over 200 metres by advanced players.
- Just as there are many kinds of golf clubs, there are many different golf discs, each with its own flight characteristics. Some turn right, some turn left, some fly straight, some are for drives, some for putting.
- While many players do just fine with only one or two discs, advanced players carry a bag full of discs - just as ball golfers carry up to fourteen clubs in their golf bag.
- The object of Disc Golf is to throw a disc from the tee to the target (see image) over the course in the fewest throws.
- Disc Golf courses are environmentally friendly, full of trees and bushes and can require very little if any land preparation and clearing.
- Disc golf is like taking a disc for a walk in the park, much like someone taking their dog for a walk. You wander through a course, visiting various targets instead of various trees. In this respect, disc golf is largely a passive use sport.
